Human Sex Ratio: Fisher's Principle

Fisher's principle is an explanation of why the sex ratio of most species is approximately 1:1. Outlined by Ronald Fisher in his 1930 book, it is an argument in terms of parental expenditure. Essentially he argues that the 1:1 ratio is the evolutionarily stable strategy.
I did not know that "evolutionarily" was a word.

Register your predictions in the comments to follow...we will let you know if we begin to balance the sex ratio in the U.S. or whether we will contribute another boy to the imbalance of our environment. -J

I read a statistic one time that if you have two of the same sex then high chance that 3rd will be same sex as the first two but 4th will have high chance of being opposite sex. So I predict another boy.

My guess is a girl. And if it's not a girl, then my guess is boy. (There, I'm safe either way!) :)

Can't wait to hear the news!

Ewe, I was leaning your way recently, though when we first found about this pregnancy I instinctively thought "girl." Either way, we win! Though I am glad we'll have a little girl. :)
